Fourth-place finish in Peach State Classic at Senoia Raceway
On Friday afternoon, Ashton Winger hopped behind the wheel of the Mathews Motorsports No. 12 Late Model for the two-day Peach State Classic at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.).
With 52 Late Models in the pit area for the doubleheader event to wrap up the 2022 campaign for the Castrol FloRacing Night in America miniseries, Winger followed up the sixth-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a third-to-first showing in his heat race. Earning the pole for the $20,000-to-win prelim, Ashton was challenging for second on lap 40 when contact with another competitor sent him spinning. He was credited with an 11th-place finish after he called it a night and headed pitside.
The following night, Ashton’s third-place finish in his heat race positioned him on the fifth row for the $53,053-to-win Peach State Classic finale. Wheeling his way into the Top-5, Winger passed six cars in the 75-lap affair to register a fourth-place finish. He trailed Ricky Thornton Jr., Hudson O’Neal, and Devin Moran to the checkers with Chris Madden coming in fifth.
