Austin Holcombe Wins County Line's Race for the Kids
Austin Holcombe made the short trip to County Line Raceway (Elm City, N.C.) over the weekend for the 14th annual Race for the Kids benefitting the Victory Junction Gang.
After practicing on Thursday night, the event came to life on Friday night. With 23 I-95 UMP Modifieds entered, Austin qualified fourth fastest to lock into the second-starting spot for his dash.
Falling behind on the start after the leader fired early, Holcombe finished second in the dash.
On Saturday night Austin broke out the broom. He hit the ground running in qualifying action with the fastest time over the 27-car field, and then he backed it up with a victory from the fifth-starting spot in the Top-6 Remix Dash.
Starting on the pole for the feature he wired the field to pick up his 17th win of the season. He was followed across the finish line by Ethan Dotson, Taylor Cook, Chris Arnold, and Ryan Ayers.
The win was an emotional one for Holcombe as he's always wanted to win the event, and he was finally able to cross it off his bucket list.
