Tanner Mullens enjoys two-win weekend; preps for Fall Jamboree

Tanner Mullens pushed his season win total to nine over the weekend with sweeps of the racing programs at Creek County Speedway and the Kansas State Fairgrounds behind the wheel of his Mel Hambelton Ford No. 02 Sandlian Iron & Metal / Mullens Race Car / Mullens Racing Engine Modified.

“It was a great weekend for our team. I don’t think you could find two tracks much more different than Creek County Speedway and The Hutch (Kansas State Fairgrounds), but we were fast in both conditions. Now we are geared up to head to Deer Creek (Speedway) for the Fall Jamboree,” Mullens said. “Thank you to all of the sponsors and fans, who support our racing endeavors.”

Tanner Mullens returned to the driver’s seat of his Mel Hambelton Ford No. 02 Modified on Saturday evening at Creek County Speedway (Sapulpa, OK) to compete in a stout field of 52 entries.

After charging from ninth-to-first in his heat race, Mullens overtook Mickey Burrell on the sixth lap of the feature and dominated the remainder of the 30-lapper to capture his eighth win of the season and a $1,500 prize in the ASAP Heating & Air Topless At The Creek event.

On Sunday afternoon at Kansas State Fairgrounds (Hutchinson, Kan.), Tanner’s eighth-to-first run in his heat placed him on the pole for the feature.

Cruising to his second win of the weekend and ninth of the 2022 campaign, Mullens took the checkers in the NCRA Modified event ahead of Brendon Gemmill, Brett Davis, Scott Green, and Randy Wilson.
