Cameron Weaver Battles Adversity at Volunteer and Magnolia

It was a tough start to a four-day swing of racing action for Cameron Weaver on Wednesday night at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.). With 33 Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series competitors on hand, the team made the decision to scratch from the remainder of the program after mechanical issues sidelined them in the heat race.

On Thursday night the team looked for better luck as the action shifted south to Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) for the three-day Cotton Pickin' 100.

The night's action was headlined by a $3,000-to-win COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) event, where 37 competitors took aim on the program. Weaver found himself behind the eight-ball for the second-straight night, and his outing ultimately came to an early end with an eighth-place finish in the B-Main.

On Friday night a $4,000-to-win program was on tap as the car count increased to 42. A fifth-place finish in Cameron's heat race left him one sport of transferring to the feature, but a second-place finish in his B-Main locked him into the 20th-starting spot for the feature.

Weaver retired early from the feature to a 21st-place finish.

The Cotton Pickin' 100 drew to a close on Saturday night. After qualifying 17th-fastest in his group in time trials, Weaver was only able to manage a seventh-place finish in his heat race. Scheduled to start fifth in the night's B-main, the team made the decision to scratch from the remainder of the event.
