Back behind the wheel of his Industrial Electric No. 5T Modified, Jeff Taylor embarked the 2022 Speedway Motors Super Nationals on Wednesday afternoon at Boone Speedway (Boone, Iowa) as the 39th edition of the event kicked off for the IMCA Modifieds. (Tyler Hagen Photography)

With a stout field of 252 IMCA Modifieds amassed in the pit area, Jeff edged his way into the preliminary feature with a runner-up performance in his heat. Rolling off 22nd, Taylor was up to 13th but caught behind another car slowing with mechanical issues. He salvaged a 19th-place finish in the 25-lapper.

On Thursday, Taylor tagged a yuke tire in his heat race that put him behind the eight ball for the remainder of the night. He went out for his Race of Champions qualifier but was unable to gain any ground, crossing the line in eighth.

For Friday’s program, Jeff followed up a third-place finish in his heat with a third-place outing his B-Main.

Slated to start Saturday’s heat race in eighth, Taylor was a scratch from his 10-lap prelim.
