Early exit with World of Outlaws at Smoky Mountain Speedway

In a field of 32 World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series entries, McDowell’s third-place finish in his heat race positioned him seventh on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Getting caught in a multi-car tangle in the opening laps, Dale went onto retire from the 40-lapper on the 10th circuit.
