Wild West Shootout continues at Vado

For the third round of the Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly, Johnny and Stormy Scott returned to Vado Speedway Park (Vado, NM) on Wednesday afternoon for another $5,000-to-win feature. Johnny posted a third-place finish in his heat while Stormy locked his spot into the show with a fifth-place finish. On Friday, both driver’s locked their spot into the show with the fourth-and-final transfer spots in their heat. With $5,000 on the line, Stormy gained nine positions to finish sixth while Johnny passed nine cars to finish fourth. He trailed Tyler Erb, Earl Pearson Jr., and Bobby Pierce to the checkers with Mike Marlar coming in fifth.

The following night with only Stormy competing while Johnny was attending a wedding, Stormy’s third-place finish in his heat lined him up 12th on the starting grid for the show. He was an early retiree from the 40-lapper on lap 16.

For the finale on Sunday, Stormy secured his spot into the show with a third-place finish in his heat while Johnny would have to earn his spot through the B-Main after placing sixth in his heat. Coming in second behind Cody Laney, Johnny locked into the 18th-starting position for the $25,000-to-win A-Main. Johnny was an early retiree with 12 circuits remaining while Stormy passed four cars to finish fifth. He followed Mike Marlar, Earl Pearson Jr., Jake Timm, and Bobby Pierce across the line.
