Berry Jr. Rallies for $4,000 I-80 Win; Victorious Again on Sunday
Tom Berry Jr. continued his stellar 2022 season with a win for the ages on Friday night at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Neb.).
A stout field of 53 Modifieds entered the opening night of the 12th annual Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals, and a ninth-to-fifth run in his heat race left Berry Jr. just short of locking into the feature.
However, a win in the B-Main moved him into the night's main event in the 18th-starting spot.
As the 22-lap feature went green Tom began marching through the field and took the lead by lap 12. Once out front he drove away from the field to register the $4,000 victory, which marked his 13th triumph of the season.
Denny Eckrich, Johnny Scott, Tanner Black, and Jacob Hobscheidt rounded out the Top-5 finishers.
After seeing Saturday night's program delayed to Sunday by rain, Berry Jr. hit the ground running in the weekend's final $4,000-to-win program. He won his heat race from the second-starting spot to lock into the pole for the feature.
He snagged the lead at the drop of the green flag and never looked back on his way to his 14th win of the year, which came over Terry Phillips, Denny Eckrich, Jordan Grabouski, and Jacob Hobscheidt.
