Matt Henderson pilots Scott Sharp No. 118 in season opener at Smoky Mountain

Matt Henderson invaded Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, TN) on Saturday afternoon to get his 2022 season underway aboard the Scott Sharp-owned No. 118 Super Late Model for the eighth annual Tennessee Tip-Off Classic. Drawing 37 Late Models for the event co-sanctioned by the Valvoline Iron-Man Southern Series and the Ultimate Southeast Series, Henderson topped his group in time trials with a 16.632-second lap before placing second in his heat race. Starting the $12,000-to-win A-Main in fifth, Matt was an early retiree on lap 23.
