Unzicker tops FALS Cup at Fairbury, nets $2,500

With Friday’s Lucas Oil LateModel Racing Association (MLRA) event at C.J. Speedway (Columbus, Iowa) falling to Mother Nature, Ryan Unzicker stayed close to home on Saturday with a quick trip to Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) for another round of the FALS Cup.

After charging from fourth in his heat race to pick up the win, Unzicker outran polesitter McKay Wenger in the 30-lap feature to capture his third win of the season and a $2,500 prize. He finished ahead of Wenger, Tommy Sheppard Jr., Titus Sneed, and Mike Spatola.

On Sunday, Unzicker traveled to Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.) for the 16th round of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals. With a third-place finish in his heat placing him on the fifth row for the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Ryan was taken out late in the race while battling for the lead, relegating him to the tail. He charged from the back to finish seventh.
