Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series at Tazewell Speedway for Firecracker 40 Sunday July 3

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (June 28, 2022) – The Valvoline Iron-Man Racing Southern Series conclude the 2022 Independence Day Weekend at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for the track’s annual Firecracker 40 event that will pay $5,000 to win and $450 to start.

The Firecracker 40 will take place at Tazewell Speedway on Sunday July 3 and will feature the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, and the 40-lap, $5,000 to win/$450 to start Firecracker 40 main event. Other divisions in competition at the Firecracker 40 on Sunday July 3 at Tazewell Speedway will be the track’s Sportsman ($800 to win), Classic Cars ($500 to win), Street Stocks ($500 to win), and Four Cylinder ($500 to win) divisions. There will also be a fireworks show during the evening to celebrate America’s birthday.

Activities at Tazewell Speedway on Sunday July 3 for the Firecracker 40 will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area opening at 5:00 p.m. The driver’s meeting will be at 7:15 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 7:45 p.m. Ticket prices for the Firecracker 40 at Tazewell Speedway on Sunday July 3 in the general admission area will be $20 for adults (children ages 9 and under are free with a paid adult), while a pit pass will be $35 for adults (children ages 12 and under $25).

The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series will sanction the Super Late Model portion of the event and the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1350, 1600, LM40 (Crate 21 and 55 also are fine) or American Racer 48 and 56 (if the series needs to do a tire rule limiting the number of tires per night it will, but as of now the series will not be limiting the number of tires for the series; NO 29.0 size tires on the left rear; the droop rule will be in effect, along with the new standardized 2022 body rules). The entry fee will be $100 and transponders for timing/scoring will be available for rent at the track. Any driver not making the 22-car starting field will receive $50 tow money.
