Springport Mid-Michigan Speedway
Trudell Wins Instant Classic
A perfect day greeted race fans as the stars of Springport Mid-Michigan Speedway came together for a great night of racing.
The Port Stocks would start things off. The A Feature was an action packed event featuring some hard chargers getting to the front. Fast qualifier for the second straight week, Gavin McGuffy was able to translate his qualifying pace into his first career feature win. Tyler Reading would give it his all to hold off McGuffy but would settle for runner up. Ryan Drumhiller would finish third and take over the lead in the A Division point standings. Bryan Gates would be fourth, with 2019 B Division Track Champion Jessie Nobach making her first start of the season one to remember with a top five.
Brad Robison would continue his hot streak in the B Division, running away with his second straight feature win. This was a race of attrition, but Robison was able to outlast the chaos. Amanda Weatherwax was second, with William Trudgeon, Bennie Miller, and Shaunna Tucker completing the top five.
Port Stock heat races were collected by Daniel Abercrombie, Jessie Nobach, and Ryan Osborne. McGuffy was quick time with a 17.776.
The Dragon Racing Fuel Street Stocks would be next on the track. Colin Bozell would find the outside line and within a few laps would push his way to the front. Despite claiming the set up was a bit off in victory lane, Bozell would be overjoyed at his victory. Race Bible would have a career best runner up finish over Norm Overhiser, Aaron Newman, and Makenna Long. The Australian Pursuit was won by Bozell, and he would complete the hat trick setting fast time with a 16.740.
The final race of the evening would go down as possible one of the best races to ever occur on the 3/8s (.375) mile oval. Defending Champion John Trudell and last weeks feature winner Jerry Pierman would battle it out side by side for over half the race. It would come down to a slim margin of .066 seconds, with Trudell very narrowly claiming the victory over Pierman. Kenny Head had a strong third place run with Dylan Stovall and Buddy Head completing the top five. Matt Stanton and John Trudell would claim heat race victories. Buddy Head set the mark in qualifying with a 15.730.
Earlier in the day, the T&N Dairy Kreme Mini-Wedges were on the inner dirt course running a full program. In the Senior Division Ella Terry claimed victory over Abbey Meyers and Gretchen Hopwood. Heats were won by Bobby Johnson and Abbey Meyers.
In the Junior Division, Dylan Casaday claimed victory over Hudson Woodin and Peyton Robison. Woodin and Robison would win the first set of heats, with Robison and Casaday claiming the second set.
