Ricky Thornton Jr. scores runner-up finish in Show-Me 100

Drawing a stout field of 63 cars for the 30th annual Show-Me 100 weekend, Ricky edged his way into the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature with the third-and-final transfer spot in his heat race. Starting in 14th, Thornton Jr. passed nine cars in the 30-lap affair to finish fifth. He followed Johnny Scott, Jonathan Davenport, Jimmy Owens, and Hudson O’Neal to the checkers.
With his fifth-place finish on Friday night placing him on the third row for the $50,000-to-win Show-Me 100 finale, Ricky stole the lead from Jonathan Davenport on lap 63 but surrendered the top spot to Davenport three circuits later. He went onto place second in the 100-lapper, following Chris Ferguson across the line with Tim McCreadie, Jimmy Owens, and Chad Simpson completing the Top-5 finishers.
Ricky is currently fifth in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
