Fourth-place finish in Spring 50 at Florence

With Mother Nature derailing his weekend plans, Ricky Thornton Jr. and SSI Motorsports traveled to Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) on Saturday afternoon to defend his title in the Spring 50. Following the third-fastest time in his group, Thornton Jr. posted a second-place finish in his heat, which came behind Bobby Pierce. Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in sixth, Ricky jumped up two spots in the 50-lapper to place fourth.
