FastLane Northalnd Super Stock Series returns for 2018
With four stops minimum for 2018 the FastLane Northland Super Stock Series return in 2018 for its fourth year!
The Series put on to recognize a growing WISSOTA class has expanded for the 2018 edition to Granite City Speedway. For the first 3 years Superior (Amsoil) Speedway, ABC Raceway in Ashland, and Proctor Speedway has held events. For the upcoming season Series Promoter Dennis McCauley asked the drivers what they would like to see and many of them answered to have the series expanded! With that McCauley set out to see what could be accomplished but found a eager participant looking to bring the series to their track and spectators before even reaching out to expand the series. Granite City Speedway promoter Carson Gramm was quick to contact the series and get in on the action, Gramm who saw the benefit of bringing the series to their solid base of Super Stocks on a regular basis, along with some local supporters found it an easy fit to expand the series to their door. Granite City, who will host the tentative opener for the series July 13th will bring upwards of 50 of the best Super Stock drivers from all around Wisconsin and Minnesta area. The series is also looking at adding another date for 2018 but yet has nailed down an official date as of this time.
The 2017 Series saw 43 contenders sign in for the rain shortened event at Superior Speedway, then came a fantastic 33 lap nonstop feature at ABC Raceway with 49 entrants vying for the top spot, and wrapping up the weekend at Proctor Speedway with 35 entrants for what would have been the finale. With the rain canceled event at Superior the series returned the following Friday for the conclusion which saw Dave Mass wrap up the Championship with his second win of the series just missing out on the $700 bonus for a 3 win sweep, but taking home the $1200 series first place prize money and the crown of Northland Super Stock Series Champion. The series paid out over $17,000 in purse and contigency awards in 2018 bringing the 3 year total to almost $40,000 in its short existence.
The Series is put on to promote and feature the Super Stock class and drivers who rarely see larger shows throughout the season, and many times are just a filler class even during the season ending invitational season. McCauley and Title Sponsor Chris Bretting from FastLane Motorsports and Powder Coating in Ashland wanted to do something to showcase the Super Stock class back in the fall of 2014 and came up with the series which has steadily grown each year. From its meager beginnings that barely saw enough cars to fill a feature at each track to last years events nearly topping 50 cars we have seen a lot of support from the Super Stock Drivers and fans alike. Bretting makes sure that the drivers are taken care of during the events with Bretting having his parts truck at Superior, Ashland, and Proctor during the events and also opening up his shop to any contenders who need a little work done on Saturday morning till Sunday afternoon in Ashland. McCauley who does most of the leg work to get ready for the series gets the word out to driver by contacting them at various tracks, posting on social media, sending messages to them, and sometimes outright calling and begging for them to come support the series does it all for the support of the Super Stock Class. The series is proud to Thank all the past sponsors for making it possible to pay forward 100% of sponsor dollars out to the driver who take part in the series, and hopes to continue that trend in 2018.
Please stay tuned for more information on the series for 2018 and join us on Facebook to keep better in tune.
