Zook Snares First LMS Win at Hagerstown

The parity in the highly competitive Late Model Sportsman Class continued Saturday at Hagerstown Speedway with Mifflintown, Pa driver Ryan Zook claiming his first win at the Western Maryland speedplant in the FreeState 35. Starting 1st, Zook rolled out to a comfortable lead, before relinquishing the top sport to Codey Breeden in lapped traffic. Breeden’s lead was extinguished by a broken oil line laps later, enabling Zook to retake the top spot, and cruise to his first of the season, becoming the 7th winner in 8 races. Defending points champion Shawn Shoemaker rolled home second, with Brian Booze, Brad Omps, and D J Myers completing the top five. Zook was the top qualifier on the night, also claiming 1 of the 3 heat race events. Justin Weaver and Jeremy Pilkerton claimed the other 2 qualifying races for the 28 cars on hand.
Jason Stoner of Mercersburg, Pa won a race long battle with points leader Steve Kent in claiming his second win of the season in the 15 lap Semi Late main event. Starting second, Stoner shadowed Kent for several laps, before using a high line move to secure the win. Kent chased Stoner to the line with Bryan Kerns, Dillon Wilson, and Justin Michael completing the top 5. Kent was the fast qualifier in time trials.
The 15 lap finale for the Pure Stocks found Hagerstown’s Keith Reed collecting his fourth win of the season. Starting 6th, Reed overtook Nathaniel Younker midway through the event, rolling to yet another win. Younker rode home second, followed by William Ecton Jr, Dylan Beavers, and Dave Friedrich. Younker and Tyler Fisher were the Heat race winners.
