Timm soars to USAC Indiana Midget Week repeat at Lawrenceburg
With wet weather spoiling Tuesday’s opener at Circle City Raceway (Indianapolis, Ind.), Ryan Timms kicked off USAC Indiana Midget Week on Wednesday afternoon at Lawrenceburg Speedway (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) seeking a repeat victory at the Indiana oval.
Aboard the Keith Kunz-Curb-Agajanian Motorsports No. 67 Midget, Timms clocked in 10th-fastest in the 25-car field before placing second in his heat race. Lined up on the sixth row for the opener, Ryan elected to test the high side near the middle stages of the 25-lapper and it paid off. After climbing to fifth by lap 20, Ryan soared into the lead six circuits later and never looked back, emerging to his seventh win of the 2024 season and 200th career victory for car-owner Mike Curb. He bagged the $5,000 winner’s payday ahead of Daison Purlsey, Emerson Axsom, Cannon McIntosh, and Hayden Reinbold.
For Thursday’s Indiana Midget Week stop at Lincoln Park Speedway (Putnamville, Ind.), Ryan settled with a runner-up finish in the 30-lap feature after leading the opening 18 circuits.
On Friday at Bloomington Speedway (Bloomington, Ind.), Timms nearly rallied to a top-10 finish in the A-Main after a lap-10 caution dropped him to the tail. He joined the field at the back and raced up to 11th.
Following a 12th-place finish in Saturday’s Indiana Midget Week visit to Tri-State Speedway (Haubstadt, Ind.), Ryan’s weekend concluded with a top-10 finish in the finale on Sunday at Kokomo Speedway (Kokomo, Ind.). Despite an early wreck in his heat, Timms steered forward six spots to salvage a 10th-place finish.
