Stevens earns top-10 finish during weekend Hell Tour swing
Tyler Stevens traveled to Illinois and Missouri over the weekend to take part in a pair of $10,000-to-win DIRTcar Summer Nationals “Hell Tour” races in his D&D Well Services No. 2 Late Model.
On Friday, the driver from Searcy Arkansas, visited the quarter-mile Brownstown Bullring (Brownstown, Illinois) where he was one of 48 Dirt Late Model drivers in the pits.
Stevens did not complete a qualifying lap due to folding the car’s nose, forcing him to start from the tail of his heat. After turning in a sixth-place finish, he won his consolation race, but came home fifth in the Last Chance Showdown. As a result, he was unable to transfer to the 50-lap main event.
Stevens then traveled to Federated Auto Parts at I-55 (Pevely, Missouri) on Saturday, where he showcased his car’s strength against 35 other entrants.
After finishing fifth in his heat, Stevens transferred to the 40-lap A-Main via a runner-up result in the Last Chance Showdown. Stevens rolled off 18th in the main event and moved steadily forward to turn in a ninth-place finish on the 1/3-mile track.
