HOBBY STOCK FEATURE ENDS IN A THRILLER FINISH
Bismarck’s Terry Davenport took the early lead in the Hobby Stock feature. Davenport’s lead was short lived as Chris Welk grabbed the lead on lap three. Davenport started to fade through the field, losing positions to Brent Vetter, Mike Appert and John Gartner Jr. A mid race caution erased Welk’s large lead and on the restart, Welk had his hands full with Vetter and Gartner. Vetter slipped by Welk with eight laps to go, bringing Gartner with him. However, Welk stayed with the leaders and it was a three car battle for the win. Gartner pulled along side of Vetter and they raced side by side for the lead. With two laps to go, Gartner edged Vetter at the finish line before a late race caution ended the race early as the Hobby Stocks went over their time limit. Race officials declared John Gartner Jr the winner over Brent Vetter and Chris Welk. Mike Appert finished fourth ahead of Terry Davenport.
