Lake of the Woods Speedway
Morriseau Wins Back to Back, Pollock Wins WISSOTA Pure Stocks, Farr takes 4-Cylinders
After skipping last weekend, Lake of the Woods Speedway returned to action Friday night.
With the chance of showers all day including some close storms, track officials worked as quickly as possible help complete the program. Luckily, as the program went on, the chance of precipitation diminished.
In the Q104 WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, rookie Patrick Davis dominated the heat race to take the win for the first time in the class. Davis had moved up from the WISSOTA Pure Stocks this season. The feature event was a fast one as Tom Morriseau once again dominated the field and almost lapped the third place car.
After the finish, Morriseau noted that it felt like a much harder race than two weeks ago, looking completely exhausted.
In the WISSOTA Pure Stocks, the one two punch of Michael Copp and Derek Pollock happened once again. The two cars battled it out bumper to bumper for about halfway through the race. However, it looked as though there wasn't a lane to get underneath the leader of Copp. Pollock decided his luck on the outside and even though it took about 5 laps of side by side action including splitting around a lapped car, Pollock passed for the lead with about 2.5 laps to go claiming his first victory in 2020.
The 4-Cylinders had another new entry with Jake Mazur of Dryden, Ontario taking his first laps. The driver finished last but looked sharp overall for his first time racing on the track.
The feature had rookie Hilary Moncrief holding the lead for just under half the race, but Alexander Farr, who passed Logan McDonald for second a lap early, scooped Moncrief at the halfway mark, claiming his first feature win of 2020.
Racing resumes this Friday for Track Championship Night! Hot Laps at 6:30 and Heats at 6:45pm.
In the 4-Cylinders, Team Moncrief is in first place and can seal the championship with a top 3 finish.
In the WISSOTA Pure Stocks, Pollock has a slim 5 point lead (one victory) over Michael Copp.
In the Q104 WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Nick Audette has a slim lead over 2019's track champion Tom Morriseau at an 11 point deficit (approx. 2 positions)
