Tony Jackson Jr. follows MLRA to Davenport and 34 Raceway
A trip to two Iowa speed plants was tap for Tony Jackson Jr. with the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) this past weekend.
The festivities kicked off on Thursday evening at Davenport Speedway, where 45 Dirt Late Model competitors signed in to battle.
Jackson turned in the eight quickest time in Group B qualifying in his Superior Power No. 56JR machine, putting the Lebanon, Missouri, driver in the seventh starting spot for his heat race. A fifth-place result in the heat meant he was on pole for the second B-Main, where he took the checkered flag to advance to the main event.
Jackson started the 40-lap feature from the 17th position and registered a 15th-place result after failing to finish.
On Friday, action shifted to 34 Raceway (West Burlington, Iowa) where 41 cars were on hand for the Slocum 50. Jackson again was eighth in his qualifying group, putting him on the outside of the second row for his heat race. He finished in the seventh position, then turned in a sixth-to-fourth-place effort in his B-Main, coming up one spot shy of a transfer spot. However, he was awarded a provisional for the 50-lap feature event.
Jackson started 24th in the feature but suffered an early exit and finished in the 26th position.
The second scheduled night at 34 Raceway was lost to rain.
