11th-place finish in Thunderfest finale at Thunder Mtn.

Chase Junghans returned with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on Friday night as the series headed east to Thunder Mountain Speedway (Knox Dale, Pa.) for the two-day Thunderfest. In a field of 37 cars, Chase followed up the fourth fastest time in his qualifying group with a 10-lap heat race victory. Rolling off fourth for the opening night feature, Junghans was collected with another competitor after a lap-16 restart that caused a multiple car tangle. He sustained severe damage to his front-end, forcing him to retire for the remainder of the evening.

The following night, Junghans came in sixth in his heat before placing seventh in his B-Main. Receiving a provisional into the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Chase charged forward 12 spots in the 50-lapper to place 11th. (Jacy Norgaard photo)
