Colton Hardy Sweeps While Stephen Simpson III and Scotty Milan Split Salute to Indy Victories

26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (May 30th, 2017) – Colton Hardy swept the weekend in Power 600 Series – Precision Tile Micro Sprint action over the weekend picking up his first two series wins of the year. Stephen Simpson III picked up win number two on Saturday night in the Restricted division while Scotty Milan was in victory lane for the fifth time this year on Sunday night.

22 Non-Wing Power 600 Series – Precision Tile Micro Sprints signed in for Salute to Indy night 1 at Canyon Speedway Park on Saturday. Michael Colegrove, Kyle Huttenhow, and Ray Herrera picked up the Heat race wins. Colton Hardy charged to the lead in Heat 3, before having his momentum slowed after he clipped an infield tire. His second-place finish from fourth lined him up on the pole for the 25-lap Feature.

Hardy led the entire way on Saturday night holding off Michael Colegrove who finished second from third. Mason Keefer completed the podium advancing from fifth to third, Shon Deskins charged from thirteenth to finish fourth with Jarrett Martin rounding out the Top 5 from seventh.

19 Non-Wing Power 600 Series – Precision Tile Micro Sprints made the call for Salute to Indy night 2. Colton Hardy won Heat 1 from the outside of the front row, winning by about a half straightaway. Jarrett Martin and Michael Colegrove also picked up Heat race wins Sunday night. Hardy’s Heat race win placed him third in passing points, lining him up fourth for the Feature.

Hardy grabbed third on the start, where he’d remain for the first eight laps as Mason Keefer and Michael Colegrove battled it out for the lead in front of him. Hardy inherited second after Keefer clipped an infield tire going for the lead in turns 3 and 4. Hardy then took over the lead from Colegrove just passed the halfway point as they raced side by side out of turn 2. Hardy led the final 13-laps and began pulling away in the final five to secure the weekend sweep. Michael Colegrove and Jarrett Martin completed Sunday’s podium with Kyle Huttenhow and Clay Sprau rounding out the Top 5.

Stephen Simpson III started third in the Restricted Feature on Saturday night after advancing to fourth from sixth in the Heat race. Simpson grabbed the lead exiting turn two on lap three of the Feature and would go on to dominate the rest of the Feature, opening a full straightaway lead over second place finisher Scotty Milan en-route to his second win in as many races.

Sunday’s Restricted Micro action saw pole sitter Ashton Torgerson hold off Scotty Milan for the Heat race win. Milan’s second place finish from third lined him up fourth for the start of the Feature. Milan moved into second on the opening lap as the field exited turn 2. He then battled Cameron LaRose for the lead over the next four laps. The two raced side by side through the middle of turns 1 and 2 and down the center of the backstretch before Milan cleared LaRose to grab the lead as they entered turn 3. Milan stretched out and maintained a half straightaway lead from that point on ending his night in the winner’s circle for the fifth time in eight races.

The Power 600 Series – Precision Tile Micro Sprints will be off the next two Saturday’s and return for wing action on June 17th where they’ll take on the big third-mile clay oval at Canyon Speedway Park for the first time this season with Restricted Micros on the small track. NAPA Non-Wing Sprint Cars, Arizona Differential IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks will also be in action. Pit gates open at 4, spectator gates open at 5 with racing getting underway at 7:30. There is a mandatory driver’s meeting at the Power 600 Series trailer directly following Canyon’s driver meeting.
