Greenbush Race Park

Olson, Schroeder, Carlson and Pederson find their way to victory lane at GRP

With the 2022 race season winding down, each driver is looking to put themselves in the winner circle one last time before the race season is over. This was the case for the 76 drivers that signed in at the pit gate at the Greenbush Race Park.

The 14 car Wissota Streets were racing the Rick Johnson Memorial. Rick was the Race Park's first points champion for the Streets and was a threat to win any time he pulled in the pits. Ryan Johnson and Josh Barker shared the front row for the 25 lap feature. One caution on lap one was the only thing that slowed these drivers down. Josh Barker lead the first seven laps before he was passed by Daniel Aberle down the backstretch. Tucker Pederson was slowly working his way up from his seventh place starting position, and with 13 to go he made the pass for the lead out of corner four. Pederson was unchallenged on his way to his third win of the year. Aberle would finish second and Weston Ramsrud, third. Heat wins went to Jeremy Gust and Jerome Berger.

The Wissota Modified feature would run caution free. Ryan Schroeder started on the outside of row one and lead the first eight laps before Aaron Blacklance made the pass for the lead out of corner four. The only thing Blacklance had to deal with was a little bit of lapped traffic on his way to what appeared to be his second win of the year, only to be DQ'd in the tech area. This would give the win to Schroder as he held off Tyler Peterson. Aaron Holtan would finish third. Heat wins went to Schroeder and Mike Tiani.

The Wissota Midwest Mods had 14 cars take the green for their feature. Patrick Sobolik was the leader through four early cautions, with the race going caution free the last eleven laps. Justin Olson was working his way forward from his sixth starting spot and challenging for the lead halfway through the race. Sobolik and Olson raced side by side and nose to tail for about four laps before Olson made the pass for the lead out of corner two. Olson went on to pick up his first win of the year, Sobolik finished second and Aaron Blacklance third. Taylor Jacobson and Blacklance picked up the heat wins.

The Wissota Pure Stocks had a nine car starting lineup. Billy Binkley started on the pole and lead the first lap before Dave Meyer would take the lead out of corner two. Meyer was out in front for the next eight laps before he gave up the lead to Austin Carlson out of corner four with six to go. Carlson survived two late race cautions to pick up his first ever Greenbush Race Park feature win and a sweep of the evening. Michael Roth finished second and Meyer third.

The MinnKota PowerI Lightning Sprint feature also ran caution free and it was the Truscinski's, Alan and Alex that shared the front row. Alex was out in front early and lead for over half the race until Dexter Dvergsten ran him down. Dvergsten would pass Truscinski out of corner four with six to go and go on to pick up his third win of the year and a sweep of the night. Kelsi Pederson was also on a mission. She passed Truscinski for second with three to go and then set her sights on Dvergsten, but had to settle for the second spot. Pederson also won her heat. Alex Truscinski finished third.

Waylon Current lead all but the first lap of the 4 Cylinder feature as he picked up his second win in a row. Kalin Honer finished second and won the lone heat and Gordon Hunter was third.

The Greenbush Race Park will wrap up it's 2022 race season this Labor Day weekend with our annual two nights of racing. Saturday's races start at 7pm with Sunday starting at 6pm. The NLRA Late Models will be in town both nights along with the Wissota classes of Modifieds, Streets, Midwest Mods and Pure Stocks along with the MinnKota PowerI Lightning Sprints and 4 Cylinders.
