Cody Gardner captures USCS Sprint Speedweek Round #2 at Riverside on Saturday.
West Memphis, AR - May 29, 2021 - Benton, Arkansas' Cody Gardner raced past early race-leader, Jeffrey West on lap 10 and led tve final 20 laps to capture the USCS Sprint Speedweek Round #2 30-lap contest at Riverside International Speedway on Saturday night. Howard Moore from Memphis, Tennessee chased Gardner across the finish line with Sunbury, Pennsylvania's Mark Smith grabbing the final podium spot. Dale Howard from Byhalia, Mississippi was fourth and Marshall Skinner from Marion, Arkansas, who started sixteenth completed the top five.
The previous night's winner, Jordon Mallett from Greenbrier, Arkansas led tge next group in sixth followed by 13-time USCS National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee in seventh. Dustin Gates from Haughton,originally was eighth and Carson Short from Marion, Illinois followed Gates in ninth place. Ernie Ainsworth from Bartlett, Tennessee rounded out the top ten
Carson Short, Mark Smith, Jeffrey West and Cody Gardner all won heat races. Ainsworth and Skinner top the two B-Mains.
Marshall Skinner garnered the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger Award for his drive from a 16th place start to finish in 5th place advancing 11 positions in the main event.
On Sunday night, May 30th the USCS Sprint Speedweek moves on to Old No. 1 Speedway in Harrisburg, Arkansas for Round #3 before completing the first weekend at Lexington 104 Speedway near Lexington, Tennessee on Monday evening at 7pm.
