Satterlee wins Dream prelim at Eldora; finishes 9th in finale

The Pennsylvania throttle masher reached Victory Lane at Eldora Speedway for the first time. He pocked $10,000 for his winning performance at the famed oval during preliminary action for the 26th annual Dirt Late Model Dream. The victory was his richest of the season and marked his sixth triumph of the year.

“As bad as we were to start the week on Wednesday and Thursday is how good we were on Friday. We used most of Thursday’s program to test some things for Friday, and it all paid off. Shannon (Babb) was leading there, and he pushed up the track on a late-race restart, and I was able to capitalize,” Satterlee said. “We ended things with a Top-10 finish in Saturday’s finale. Overall, I was pleased with how our team progressed throughout the four-day stretch.”

Gregg Satterlee made the trek to the famed Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Wednesday to kick off the 27th annual Dirt Late Model Dream with four consecutive nights of racing. With the 74-car field split into two separate groups for a pair of preliminary features, Satterlee followed up an eighth-place finish in his heat race with a ninth-place finish in his B-Main.

With preliminary results from Wednesday lining him up 21st on the starting grid for his B-Main on Thursday evening for a final chance at the $127,000-to-win Dirt Late Model Dream, Gregg logged a 14th-place finish, which brought his night to an early end.

For the 26th annual Dirt Late Model Dream on Friday, Satterlee timed in fourth fastest in his group before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. Earning the third-starting position for the preliminary feature, Gregg snuck past race-long leader Shannon Babb following a lap-17 restart and paced the field for the final eight circuits to capture his sixth win of the season and a $10,000 prize. Babb, Kyle Bronson, Jonathan Davenport, and Chris Ferguson rounded out the Top-5.

Starting on the pole of his heat race on Saturday, Gregg edged his way into the 26th annual Dirt Late Model Dream with a third-place finish after contact with another competitor dropped him from second. With $126,000 on the line, Satterlee improved five positions in the 100-lap affair to register a ninth-place finish.
