Holcombe makes long haul to Fairbury Speedway for Illinois Dirt Shootout
Starting his extended trip to the Midwest, Austin Holcombe descended upon Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway on Thursday afternoon for the $20,000-to-win Illinois Dirt Shootout with the MARS Championship Modified Series.
With a whopping 122 Mods checked in for the weekend, Holcombe started fourth in his heat race and faded to finish 10th which relegated him to a B-Main. Charging forward five positions, Austin came up a few spots short of making a feature.
Friday's second preliminary day was cancelled due to rain.
Starting 14th in a B-Main on Saturday, Holcombe stormed forward and moved up to the sixth-position but still came up just short of the $20,000-to-win finale.
