Eighth-place finish in Rock Gault Memorial opener at Cherokee

Chris Ferguson made the short trip to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Friday afternoon to compete with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series for the two-day Rock Gault Memorial. With the 43-car field split into two separate groups for a pair of preliminary features, Ferguson laid down the fastest lap overall in time trials before picking up an eighth-lap heat race victory. Receiving the fourth-starting position for the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature via the redraw, Chris held on to finish eighth in the 25-lapper after contact early with another competitor while battling for the lead.

Persistent rain overnight postponed Saturday’s $40,000-to-win finale to a later date to be named.
