Arneson Hangs to Win First Victory at Mandan
Marcus Tomlinson and Casey Arneson started on the front row for the IMCA Modified feature. Arneson slid up the track going into corners one and two, allowing Tomlinson to secure the lead down the backstretch. Arneson regained his speed off corner exit and quickly caught and passed Tomlinson for the lead on lap two. Arneson pulled away as Tomlinson started to fall into the clutches of Mark Dahl. As Dahl started to challenge Tomlinson for second,Travis Hagen made it a three car battle. Dahl passed Tomlinson, bringing Hagen with him. Hagen was all over Dahl’s bumper and with 10 laps to go, Hagen grabbed the second position. As Arneson started to catch lapped traffic, Hagen cut into his lead. Lapped traffic caused issues for Arneson as he struggled to negotiate the slower cars. With only a few laps to go, Hagen was all over Arneson’s rear bumper. Using the lapped traffic to his advantage, Casey Arneson held off Travis Hagen to pick up his first feature victory at Dacotah Speedway. Mark Dahl finished third while Shawn Strand made a late race pass to finish fourth ahead of Marcus Tomlinson.
