Wilson, Champlain, McSperitt, and Davis Garner Wins At Creek County Speedway

Bryan Hulbert – SAPULPA, Okla. (May 19, 2018) Round six on the 2018 season at Creek County Speedway this past Saturday night, 91 cars filled the Pits of the Oklahoma quarter-mile for the “Fast Five Weekly Racing Series”

Keeping victory in the family, Austin McSperitt picked up his fourth win of the season in Factory Stock competition with his cousin, Kevin McSperitt, grabbing his second with the Mini Stocks. Parking in Victory Lane for the first time this season, Sam Champlain was the top-dog in Dwarf competition with Chad Davis continuing his dominance of the Modifieds with his fifth triumph of the year in as many starts. In Champ Sprints, it was Brett Wilson who topped the field through traffic for his first win of the season.

Besting a field of 29 Champ Sprints, Coweta’s Brett Wilson worked traffic perfectly in the closing laps to grab the lead away from Zach Alley. Tight on the cushion with less than five laps to run, Wilson nearly gave up the top spot but was able to recover. With traffic in his favor as well, Kyle Clark rolled from 10th to second. Having to race from the B-Feature, Alex DeCamp put on a passing clinic with a thrilling drive from 20th to third. Zach Alley ended up fourth with Andrew Deal racing from 12th to fifth.

Having to advance nine positions through the Modified A-Feature, Chad Davis capitalized on cautions to work his way to the front of the 18-car field. Grabbing the lead with only four laps to run, Davis was untouchable in the closing laps. Getting the pass on Chris Spencer, the No. 8s would hold on for second with Justin Cartwright making the final podium step. Colin Wiseley and Ho Dean made up the top-five.

With a field of 25 Mini-Stocks on hand, the checkered flag finally fell on Kevin McSperitt. Leading start to finish, the No. 88 was trailed to the line by Dylan Lehew. The final podium step went to Justin Melton with Wesley Knebel advancing position nine times for fourth. Daniel Denton completed the top-five.

With a dozen Dwarf Cars on hand, Sapulpa’s Sam Champlain led every lap on Saturday night. Coming from eighth, Robert Watson finished second with Mike Howard, Chandler Foltz, and Rex Johnson making the top-five. A scary moment came early in the race when Paul York flipped violently into the first turn. Erupting into flames during the crash, Paul was able to escape unharmed.

From fifth in the Factory Stocks, Austin McSperitt’s fourth win on the year continues a run of six finishes on the podium. Bobby Wolfe in second saw the bottom podium stop occupied by Jimmy Owens. Fourth went to Calvin Lewis with Jason Anderson fifth.

A change in the lineup for Memorial Day Weekend, the Randy Wheeler Memorial will take place on Saturday, May 26. The race was originally slated for Friday, but a meeting with drivers before the race saw a majority approve of moving the race to it’s normal Saturday night program. Champ Sprints, Modifieds, Dwarf Cars, Factory Stocks, and Mini Stocks will make up feature classes.

Saturday, May 26, Gates open at 4:30 P.M with Hot Laps at 6:30 P.M. Races get underway at 7:00 P.M. Admission prices are $10 for adults and free for kids 10 years and under. Pits are $30 (under 10 years of age is $15).
