Brown wins Street Stock Stampede! Keeter, Jolly, Westhoff and Luthi visit victory lane.

Humboldt Speedway- Humboldt Speedway roared back to life after weather had forced the postponement of racing the prior weeks. Area racers arrived at the ? mile “Hummer” on Friday the 13th with the threat of bad weather again threatening the evening festivities.
In NASCAR / Whelen All American Series Modifieds , last years track Champion picked up where he left off, using his pole position starting spot to dominate the 25 A feature. An early battle between Keeter and Topeka’s Steven Bowers was soon put to rest as Keeter drove away to collect his his win. Nevada, Missouri’s Chase Domer got around Bowers late in the race to claim second.
In Ray’s Metal Depot B Modified action, Cody Jolly, the 2017 Whelen All-American Division II National Champion used his pole position starting spot to wrap up his A feature win. Chanute’s Tim Van Gotten and Liberal, Missouri’s Matt Rose battled for second place most of the A feature. Tyler Kidwell, stepping in a new chassis, would rally late to run second. Van Gotten would be credited with third and Rose fourth..
In the night’s special event , the $1000 to win “Street Stock Stampede” brought to you by the Tumbleweed Music Festival, Stoutland, Missouri’s Derek Brown held off Tim Brown, also from Stoutland for the $1000 payday. Collinsville, Oklahoma’s Dalton Garrison recovered from an early race mishap to run 3rd. Hard charger for the night in all classes would be Kansas City, Kansas racer Brett Heeter, who arrived late after a rain-out to start at the tail end of the A feature. Heeter would run fourth.
In Home Savings Bank Factory Stock racing, last year’s track Champion Jon Westhoff used patience to outlast previous years track Champion Derek Wilson. Westhoff passed Wilson on lap twelve and held on for the victory. Joey Decoster rounded out the top three.
In O”Reilly’s AutoParts Sports Compact action, Topeka’s Barry Luthi, driving for himself, won the Sports Compact A feature. Curtis Wilson Jr. and Brandon Vink completed the top three.
Racing returns to Humboldt Speedway on April 20th with the Ray’s Metal Depot $500 to win B Modified Big Dog Bonus Buy In race. Other classes competing will be Home Savings Bank NASCAR Factory Stocks, NASCAR / Whelen All-American Modifieds, Tumbleweed Music Festival Street Stocks and O'Reilly AutoParts Sports Compacts. Pit Passes are $30 if you hold a current NASCAR License, $35 for those without a NASCAR License. General Admission is $10 for Adults, Seniors 65 and over just $9, Children ages 6-12 are just $5.
