Beard begins 2020 slate with Wild West Shootout

Making the trek west, Kyle Beard kicked off the 2020 season on Saturday evening at FK Rod Ends Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Az.) piloting his Gary Beard Trucking No. 86 Late Model for the 14th annual Wild West Shootout. In a stout field of 46 cars, Beard followed up the fourth fastest lap in his time trial group with a 5th place finish in his heat. Grabbing the 3rd and final transfer spot in his B-Main, Kyle earned the 24th-starting position for the opening night feature. With $5,000 on the line, Beard suffered motor issues with four laps remaining that forced him to retire. He was credited with an 18th place outing.

After swapping out motors on Sunday, Beard logged an 8th place finish in his heat transferring him into the B-Main. Needing a 3rd place finish or better, Kyle was a scratch from his consolation event.
