Theiss opens up 2024 season with victory at Big O Speedway
Kicking off his 2024 season on the second week of January, Austin Theiss traveled to Big O Speedway (Ennis, Texas) on Saturday afternoon for the Big O Freedom 100.
Competing in both the DIRTcar Late Model and DIRTcar Pro Late Model divisions, Austin qualified second-fastest in both classes and started on the front row of the A-Mains. In the Pro Late Model feature, Theiss landed a runner-up finish behind James Moon in the 10-lap feature. For the 15-lap DIRTcar Late Model feature event, Theiss ran second for 14 laps before executing a dramatic last lap pass to secure the victory. Austin slipped by Michael King Jr. at the line while Ortanik Mikel and Chad Guest completed the Top-5.
