Cory Hedgecock
12th-place finish in Spring Nationals finale at 411
After losing Friday night’s opener at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.), Cory Hedgecock kicked off his Memorial Day weekend on Saturday afternoon at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) pulling double duty. Drawing 39 American Crate All-Star Series entries, Hedgecock timed in third fastest in qualifying before placing second in the Dash. Slated to start the $3,000-to-win A-Main in second, Cory was disqualified before the start of the 40-lapper.
Competing for the $3,000 Topless Outlaw Series payday in the feature, Cory was involved in a tangle with a lapped-car while leading that ended his night early.
Returning to action on Monday, Cory visited 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.) for the ninth annual Scott Sexton Memorial. Following a fourth-place finish in his heat, Hedgecock locked his spot into the $10,052-to-win Spring Nationals finale with a runner-up finish in his B-Main behind Heath Hindman. Passing three cars in the 52-lap affair, Cory recorded a 12th-place outing. (Michael Moats photo)
In his Crate Late Model, Hedgecock notched a fifth-place finish in the $2,000-to-win feature. He trailed Rusty Ballenger, Eli Beets, Matt Henderson, and Jesse Lowe to the line.
