Topless Outlaw triumph at Boyd's lifts Hedgecock's 2020 win tally to 11
Friday night saw Cory Hedgecock claim his fifth Topless Outlaws Dirt Late Model Series win of the season. It was the eleventh overall triumph of 2020 for the chauffer of the E-Z-GO No. 23 Pace Performance/ Budget Transmissions/ Rocket Chassis/ Eagle Racing Engine Late Model.
“It’s great to be back in Victory Lane at Boyd’s,” Hedgecock said. “It was a good night. We had a fast car, was able to get the lead early and never looked back. As always, a big thanks goes out to all of my family, crew, fans, and sponsors for their relentless support.”
Cory Hedgecock invaded Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga. Friday night for the first of two Topless Outlaws Dirt Late Model Series events over the weekend. Topping the 26-car field in time trials, Hedgecock locked into the second-starting position for the main event.
Zooming past polesitter Chase King on the fourth lap, Cory led the remaining distance of the 40-lapper to secure his 11th victory of the season and fifth Topless Outlaws triumph of 2020. Finishing ahead of Chase King, Randy Weaver, Ronnie Johnson, and Jadon Frame, Hedgecock pocketed $2,500.
The following night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn. for the Halloween Spooktacular, Hedgecock laid down the third fastest time in his group, which positioned him fifth on the starting grid for the $5,100-to-win A-Main.
Challenging race-long pacesetter Randy Weaver late in the 51-lap affair, Cory came up short to place second behind Weaver. Chase King, Ronnie Johnson, and Kenny Collins rounded out the Top-5.
