Jarrett Martin and Scotty Milan Win with Last Lap Passes in Power 600 Series – Precision Tile Action

26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (April 2nd, 2017) – After a two-week break, the Power 600 Series – Precision Tile Micro Sprints were back in action Saturday night at Canyon Speedway Park. Both Jarrett Martin in the Non-Wing 600 and Scotty Milan in the Restricted class found victory lane with last lap passes at the finish line.
Racing action would get started with 23 Non-Wing Power 600 Series-Precision Tile Micro’s filled out three Heat races. Martin would pick up the win from the 2nd starting spot in Heat race 1, while Kyle Huttenhow and Matt Lundy would win Heat’s 2 and 3 from the third starting position.
Martin’s Heat race win placed him 3rd in passing points, lining him up on the outside of row 2 for the Feature. Martin moved into 3rd on the start and grabbed 2nd place just past the mid-way point of the race. A late race caution would bunch the field up for a green-white-checkered finish. Kyle Huttenhow would lead the field out of turn 4, with Martin in tow. Huttenhow would lead with Martin on his tail tank as the white flag waved, Martin would move to the high side coming out of turn 2, diamond off the corner in 3 and 4 and have just enough room to make the pass on the inside of Huttenhow coming out of turn 4 to steal the win at the line. Kyle Huttenhow would finish 2nd with AJ Miller rounding out the podium from the 6th starting position. Mason Keefer transferred from the B Main and charged from 15th to finish 4th and Jerrad Warhurst completed the top 5 from the 11th starting spot.
Scotty Milan would start 4th in the Restricted Micro Main after picking up the Heat race win earlier in the night. Kaiden Clark would lead the first 5 laps of the Feature, with Cameron LaRose and Milan challenging him for the lead the entire time. LaRose would grab the lead out of turn 4 as the field completed lap 6. Milan would move into 2nd the following lap and he and LaRose would begin to break away from the field. Milan would get held up by a lap car exiting turn 2, allowing LaRose to pull away. It would take Milan a couple laps to close the gap to LaRose, but as the white flag waved Milan was all over the back of LaRose challenging for the lead. The two would race side by side out of turn 4 with Milan just edging LaRose at the line to pick up his 2nd consecutive win in the Restricted division.
The Power 600 Series – Precision Tile Micro Sprints are off next week but return April 14th and 15th running Winged both nights as part of the Easter Eggstravaganza. Restricted Micros, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, and Modlites will also be in action. Pit gates open at 4, spectator gates open at 5 with racing action getting underway at 7:30. There is a mandatory driver’s meeting at the Power 600 Series trailer directly following Canyon’s driver meeting.
