O'Neil Brothers Racing enjoy two-win weekend, Jake net's $15,000 payday
Jake jumped back behind the wheel of his #0 USMTS Modified this past weekend and attended the King of America at the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, KS. After a week's worth or rain, the Thursday night program was cancelled and the event started with qualifying action on Friday evening.
Jake qualified 10th in his group and then was forced to rally from his 10th starting spot up to finish 4th in his heat. He then ran third in the b-main to qualify himself into the $5,000 to win feature event. The feature was postponed until Saturday due to deteriorating track conditions, setting up a double race on Saturday.
Saturday's $5,000 to win feature saw Jake race from his 21st starting position into the top ten, finishing with no damage and a 9th place finish.
Saturday's $15,000 to win King of America event saw Jake qualify second in his group, then race from 3rd up to 2nd in his heat race, earning himself the 10th starting spot in the 60-lap event. Jake quickly got up on the wheel and progressed forward throughout the early stages of the event and eventually was able to work by the early leaders to take the spot, which he never relinquished on his way to a dominating $15,000 payday and his first King of America title!
