Jake O'Neil Enjoys Two-Win USMTS Weekend
Jake was back on the road with the USMTS for their four night swing this past weekend and for his efforts, he picked up a pair of wins, and came home with a runner up finish in the weekend finale. The tour kicked off Thursday night at the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa and after running second in his heat race, Jake lined up third and battled for the lead the entire race and after a tussle for the lead got physical, Jake ended up leading the remaining laps to pick up the $2,500 victory. Friday night, the teams made their way to the Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa and after winning his heat, Jake started third for the second night in a row and was running inside the top four when mechanical troubles ended his night early.
Saturday, the tour made it's annual stop at the Nobles County Speedway in Worthington, MN and Jake ran second in his heat race, after starting fifth and for the third night in a row, redrew the #3 starting spot for the main event. From the inside of the third row, Jake settled into third early, before moving into the runner up spot and working to track down the leader. Jake stalked the leader for the majority of the race and used the extreme high side of the speedway on the final lap to slingshot by into the lead for his second win of the weekend.
Sunday, the annual Sandy Benson Memorial was held at the Casino Speedway in Watertown, SD and Jake ended the weekend with another good run. He won his heat from fifth and then charged from his 7th starting spot in the main event up to a solid runner up finish to cap off a great weekend.
