English Creek Speedway
ECS Release #1 4.27.18
ECS Release #1
Opening night of English Creek Speedway was one full of drama and hard fought racing!
We started the night of with R-Box Stock and that saw Clayton Vanderploeg cap off his first win of the 2018 season. The A-Main was a battle as Vanderploeg had to hold off a racey Nolan Freeman in the early laps, as Freeman would go on to finish second. Logan Benge was the driver who would not go away as Benge continued to
put pressure on the leaders throughout the entire race. Benge would eventually to finish third.
The 390 Clone Flat Kart saw Tony Gerdom run a solid race from start to finish as he lead every single lap from the pole to win the feature race.
In the Adult Wing Outlaw we saw Kenzie Alexander Sweep the night as she won both heat races and snagged the A-Main!
The Box stock feature race was full of drama, carnage, and passion that had 19 drivers racing! A race that saw the leaders get involved into incidents not once, but twice! It looked like it would be the Lane Gerdom Stewart race to begin with, but tragedy came at lap 8 when he spun at the exit of turn 4. It was Gage Stevens who inherited the lead, but the fiery 71 machine of Cason Fitch was lurking behind Stevens. As Fitch went to make the move on Stevens for the lead, the two collided which brought out the yellow! With only 5 laps left, a hard charging Mason Heimbaugh saw his opportunity. Heimbaugh who started out P19 had made his way up to second position, behind a hard charging McKenzie Smith when the final yellow came out. As the green dropped on the final few laps Heimbaugh drove it in there on the bottom into turn one and was able to edge Smith, who would finish third, and lead the final few laps to pick the feature win! It also saw Brody Johnson who started P10 to finish second!
The Intermediate Wing saw Alex Vande Voort put on an absolute clinic! After starting from P5 Vande Voort drove his 5A machine around the field in absolutely dominating performance to lead every lap and pick up the win!
The Open 500cc was the final race of the night which the Professor, Nick DeMoss ace his way to victory! DeMoss swept the night winning both heats and winning the A-Main after leading every single lap of the night!
That concluded racing action at English Creek, so join us next week on May 4th for night #2!
