Dale McDowell makes Dirt Track World Championship at Eldora Speedway

Making a last-minute decision to join the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for their championship weekend, Dale McDowell unloaded the Shane McDowell Racing No. 17M at at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the Dirt Track World Championship.

Finishing second to Mason Ziegler in a heat race on Friday, McDowell earned a fourth-row starting spot for Saturday's finale. In the 100-lap feature, Dale faded backwards through the field and retired on lap 41. He was scored 22nd.
