Derek Groomer grabs win in season debut at Paragon Speedway

On Friday afternoon, Derek Groomer kicked off his 2025 campaign with a doubleheader weekend planned for Paragon (Ind.) Speedway on Friday and Florence Speedway (Walton, Ky.) on Saturday evening.

Breaking out the UMP Modified on Friday, Groomer qualified second-fastest out of a 16-car field and grabbed a heat race victory. Derek started on the pole of the 25-lap feature and led flag-to-flag to secure his first victory of 2025. Groomer collected a cool $1,000 payday for his efforts.

Saturday's Northern Allstars Late Model Series opener at Florence Speedway (Walton, Ky.) was rained out.
