Nick Competes with WoO in Tennessee and Alabama
Nick Hoffman resumed his pursuit of the World of Outlaws (WoO) Case Late Model Series Championship and Rookie of the Year titles on Thursday night at the McCarter-family owned 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tenn.).
Forty-seven drivers entered the $10,000-to-win affair at the tricky, 3/8-mile oval. Nick earned the 15th-starting spot for the feature via a fourth-place finish in his heat race. He slipped back as far as 20th early in the feature before rebounding to finish 16th.
Action slid southwest on Friday night for the opening round of the inaugural Alabama Gang 100 at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Ala.). A stout field of 62 WoO entries were on hand.
With the field divided into three preliminary features, Nick earned the 20th starting spot for his feature after almost getting upside down in qualifying. Despite starting deep in the grid, he charged to a seventh-place finish in the 20-lap feature.
Saturday's action found Nick lined up third on the grid for his heat race. Advancing one spot to a second-place finish moved Nick into the main event in the 15th-starting spot.
Hoffman enjoyed a solid run in the $50,000-to-win 60-lap feature. He passed nine drivers to cross the finish line in sixth.
Nick is sixth in the latest series standings and continues to lead the Rookie of the Year battle.
