Tyler Erb
Erb breaks while leading at West Virginia Motor Speedway
For the second stop with the Castrol FloRacing Night in America miniseries, Tyler Erb was one of 28 Late Models entered at Atomic Speedway (Alma, Ohio) on Thursday evening for the Fireball 50. Scoring a runner-up finish in his heat race behind Tim McCreadie, Erb locked into the sixth-starting position for the $22,000-to-win A-Main. After challenging for a top-five spot the entire race, Tyler suffered a flat tire on lap 38 that dropped him to the tail. He rebounded in the remaining distance to place 10th. (Zach Yost photo)
With the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) doubleheader weekend in Illinois rained out, Tyler returned to action on Sunday at West Virginia Motor Speedway (Mineral Wells, V.Va.) for the return of the facility that has laid dormant for the past eight seasons. In a field of 28 Valvoline Iron-Man Northern Series entries, Erb posted a runner-up finish in his heat behind Devin Moran, which positioned him third on the starting grid for the A-Main. With $8,000 on the line, Tyler found himself in contention for the win late in the race after the front-runners had tire issues but broke left-rear tire on the final lap while leading that ended his night immediately. He was credited with a sixth-place finish.
