KME Late Model Series at Gondik Law Speedway Set For 2024

In 2023, the Gondik Law Speedway started its own Late Model Series, putting up a whopping $20,000 purse for an eight race series, with all of the races at Gondik Law Speedway. 55 different drivers from four different States and one Canadian Province competed for the $6,000 top series purse prize. Pat Doar of New Richmond, WI took home the championship, Darrell Nelson of Hermantown, MN took 2nd and Kyle Peterlin of Hibbing, MN finished in 3rd place.

In 2024, Pat Kapella, the owner of KME has come on board to help make this an even bigger payout for the Late Model drivers and is the 2024 Naming Rights Sponsor of the Series. "We are super excited to have Pat and KME involved this year as Pat has done so much for Late Model racing, and racing in general around our area. He is a great guy to have as a marketing partner and is very passionate about racing, which is a great combination" says Joe Stariha, Owner/Promoter of Gondik Law Speedway.

2024 will again have eight races scheduled for the KME Late Model Series and half of them are once again held on special nights where a lot of Late Models are already coming to Gondik Law Speedway. "Last year I did this for a reason, my thought process was that if half of the races are races a lot of our out of town drivers are coming to anyhow, they will come to the first race to see how they do, they will be there for the next four races in most cases because they are specials they come to anyhow and then after five races they can see if it makes sense to race the next three races based upon where they are in the point standings" says Stariha.

The purse this year is increased by $10,000 and it was spread throughout the field, instead of the majority of it put to the top five spots. The winner of the Series will receive a $7,500 payday and 9th place still pays out $1,000. 15th even pays out $500. "I wanted to have a really good purse where 2nd place still paid out $5,000 and third through 5th, $4,000, $3,000 and $2,000 respectively, while still paying down the line to 15th place pretty good. I want the drivers to look at this as an opportunity to make some extra money while Gondik Law Speedway continues to strive to have one of the best Late Model fields night in and night out in WISSOTA" says Stariha.
