Victory for Thompson at Hamilton County Speedway

Cody Thompson raced at two Hawkeye State tracks over the weekend with impressive results, including his first victory of the year.

On Thursday, Thompson competed in the USRA Modified division at Webster City, Iowa’s Hamilton County Speedway. He drove his Team Harris Auto Racing No. 25c to a third-place heat-race finish on the half-mile oval and started the 15-lap feature from the pole. He led every lap of the race and took the checkered flag 5.640 seconds in front of Greg Elliott. Duke Erickson, Josh Ruby and Ben Nading completed the top five.

Saturday saw Thompson move to the half-mile Sports Park Raceway in Fort Dodge, Iowa, for another USRA Modified program. He finished third in his heat and rolled off sixth in the 12-lap A-Main. Thompson ultimately finished fourth behind Nading, Ruby and Devon Havlik. Lyle Sathoff took the fifth spot.
