Thompson Tames U.S. 30; Early Retiree at Raceway Park

Cody's last minute decision to race at U.S. 30 Speedway (Columbus, Neb.) on Thursday night turned into his seventh win of the year.

In his No. 25c IMCA Modified, Thompson raced from fourth to second in his heat race. Starting eighth in the feature, Cody charged to the front of the pack and ultimately the victory over Shane Hiatt, Jared Hoefelman, Kale Smith, and Anthony Roth.

On Sunday evening the team made the short trip to South Dakota's Raceway Park, but luck wouldn't be on Cody's side. After a fifth-to-third run in his heat race Thompson started 10th in the feature but was an early retiree with mechanical woes. He was credited with a 15th-place finish.
