Second Time’s A Charm…Chase Pistone will make his second-career start for Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) during the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Iowa Speedway this weekend while Dylan Kwasniewski drives the No. 42 TSM car. Pistone was last behind the wheel of the No. 31 Chevrolet Camaro at Iowa Speedway in May and had an impressive top-15 finish.
Experience at Iowa…Although this is just Pistone’s third-career NNS start, the 30-year-old driver is no stranger to the short track of Iowa Speedway. Pistone has two Pro Cup Series starts, along with one ARCA Racing Series start, at the Midwest track and possesses one top-10 finish. Pistone also scored a top-12 finish in the Truck Series event just weeks ago.
This Week's Camaro…Crew chief Shannon Rursch and the No. 31 TSM team will unload chassis TSM-323 this weekend in the Midwest. TSM-323 has only seen the racetrack once this year when it was driven by Kwasniewski at Darlington Raceway in April.
Previous Run at Iowa…In Pistone’s first-career start with TSM at Iowa Speedway, the No. 31 team used the weekend’s multiple practices sessions to get their driver comfortable with the NNS car since it was the first time he had competed in the NNS since 2006. Despite claiming a 12th-place starting position for the race, misfortune struck the No. 31 TSM team as a cracked fitting forced the 30-year-old to start from the rear of the field. When the race began, Pistone showed quickly that the morning's adversity wasn't going to affect his on-track performance. Pistone was able to gain multiple positions from the drop of the green flag and continued to charge into the top 15. Pistone maintained his position and held strong in the race's closing laps, bringing home a 14th-place finish.
About Chase Pistone…Racing runs deep in Pistone’s blood. As a fabricator of Legends Cars and Super Late Models, the North Carolina native helps develop and field several drivers out of his local race shop, Chase Pistone, Inc. Pistone most recently signed with a Chevrolet Truck Series team to compete in 14 races on the 2014 schedule.
Watch and Listen…Don’t miss the action as the NNS heads to Iowa Speedway for a night of short-track racing in the Midwest. The U.S. Cellular 250 can be seen live on Saturday, August 2 beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT on ESPN and can be heard live on MRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.
Chase Pistone on Racing at Iowa Speedway: “I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of this Nationwide Series car and working with the No. 31 Turner Scott Motorsports team again. I learned a lot from our run earlier this year, and I feel confident going into this weekend. Iowa Speedway is one of my favorite tracks; I’d love to get a win here. I can’t thank Harry Scott and Steve Turner enough for giving me another opportunity to gain experience and work with such a great organization. My goal is to go out there and learn, and hopefully exceed our last performance at Iowa.”
