Rodney Sanders notches sixth-place finish in Masters finale

For the 23rd annual Masters weekend, the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) drew Rodney Sanders and 55 competitors to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) on Thursday afternoon for the three-day event.

With a heat race victory placing him on the second row for the opening night feature, Sanders was credited with a 17th-place outing after pulling off early.

On Friday evening, Rodney followed up a third-place finish in his heat with a consolation victory. Passing six cars in the 40-lap feature, Sanders reeled in an eighth-place finish.

The following night, Sanders secured his spot into the $10,000-to-win finale with a heat race win. Inching forward three spots in the 45-lapper, Rodney recorded a sixth-place finish.

Rodney remains in fifth in the latest USMTS point standings.
