Flud Picks Up Pair of Wins and Mahaffey Scores Second Straight Lucas Oil NOW600 Series Victory During Round 2 of Sooner 600 Week
Inside Line Promotions – SAPULPA, Okla. (June 21, 2018) – Frank Flud continued to boost his impressive statistics in Lucas Oil National Open Wheel 600 Series presented by MyRacePass competition as he posted a pair of wins and Shawn Mahaffey recorded his second straight triumph on Thursday at Creek County Speedway during Round 2 of Sooner 600 Week.
Flud advanced from fourth to win both the Stock Non-Wing and Winged ‘A’ Class main events. He now has 18 career triumphs in each class.
Flud had to hold off Stock Non-Wing points leader Daniel Shaffer for his first victory in the division this season. Holley Hollan placed third with Jace McIntosh fourth and Weldon Buford fifth.
Shaffer, Trey Burke and Hollan were the heat race winners.
Flud garnered his third Winged ‘A’ Class triumph this season. Riley Goodno rallied from eighth to second with Chase Randall third. Avery Goodman charged from 11th to fourth and Daison Pursley maneuvered from 18th to fifth.
Blake Battles, Kinzer Edwards and Randall each claimed a heat race win.
Mahaffey was victorious in the Restricted ‘A’ Class main event for the second straight race and for the division-leading third time this year. Ryan Timms posted a runner-up result to reclaim the lead in the championship standings. Xavier Doney placed third, Ryder Laplante was fourth and Kale Drake rounded out the top five.
Doney, Jack Hall and Timms were the heat race victors.
Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, Okla., hosts the third round of Sooner 600 Week on Friday. The gates open at 5 p.m. with racing scheduled for 8 p.m. The pill draw will open at 5:30 p.m. and will close once the drivers meeting begins at 6:45 p.m.
