Prairie Dirt Classic brings Overton to Fairbury
Brandon Overton and the Riggs Motorsports team rolled into Fairbury Speedway on Wednesday for the FloRacing Night in America miniseries’ One for the Road event, officially kicking off the 35th annual Prairie Dirt Classic weekend.
Overton secured a spot in the $20,000-to-win opener with a runner-up finish in his heat race. However, he struggled to find pace in the 50-lap feature and faded to a 17th-place finish.
On Friday, the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series took center stage with preliminary features determining locked-in starters for Saturday’s $50,000-to-win main event. Overton finished sixth in his prelim, sending him to a Saturday B-Main.
His weekend ended early when he bicycled in turns one and two on the opening lap of his consolation race, eliminating his shot at advancing into the Prairie Dirt Classic finale.
